Shane Beamer’s seat is a little cooler on Sunday after South Carolina‘s upset win over Florida in Week 6. And it comes at a good time, too: the Gamecocks have an open week before returning to action on Oct. 24 against Tennessee.

On the injury front, there is more good news. Beamer said on his weekly teleconference that he should have a more or less healthy squad against the Volunteers. DB Jalewis Solomon, WR Jayden Sellers, edge rushers Kobbo Sakyi-Prah and Julian Walker, OL Carter Miller and Josiah Thompson, and DL Gabe Brownlow-Dindy were all listed as out, but Beamer said just about all of them, as well as players forced to exit against the Gators, are “expected to be ready” for Week 8.

DB Q Scott was also out against the Gators, but he’s not as far along. He was hospitalized after the Kentucky game and will undergo “further tests” to determine the extent of his injury, Beamer added.

Saturday’s game between South Carolina and Florida was the first since a 41-39 Gators win in Columbia on Oct. 14, 2023. It was the Gamecocks’ first win in Gainesville since Nov. 15, 2014, a 23-20 final. And it was their first SEC win since September 27, 2025, a 35-13 victory over Kentucky.
