Shane Beamer recaps demoralizing loss to Clemson, sends message to fans about rivalry

Shane Beamer and South Carolina never got on track Saturday night against Clemson and lost 30-0, the first shutout for the Gamecocks against the Tigers since 1989.
The Tigers rang up 265 rushing yards, and held the Gamecocks to just 43 in the decision. QB Jason Brown was pulled for Zeb Noland late in the third quarter, but it didn’t make much difference for the offense, which was 6-for-21 on third and fourth down.
Here’s a sampling of what Beamer told the media:
Beamer: “We’re not going anywhere. We’re only going to get better. #Clemson isn’t going anywhere, they continue to recruit at a high level, and we’re not going anywhere. We’re coming and we’ll get there.” #Gamecocks

Shane Beamer: “Not good football. Not good coaching. Not good playing.”

Beamer asked if he had any message for the folks who might be down about the state of the USC-Clemson rivalry at the moment:
“I want to reiterate we’re not going anywhere and we’re only going to get better as a football program…I wish we had played better for our fans.”

Any looming staff changes?
Beamer: “We just walked off the field. We’ll evaluate the football team after the season. We had a bad night.”

Beamer on the last drive: “Probably should have for Parker. I was just trying to score a touchdown. I’m not really into kicking field goals to lose 30-3.”

Shane Beamer: “I want to apologize to our fans for that performance. It starts with me as head coach.”

Beamer: Told players they have changed #Gamecocks football with how they played all season and never quit, gave great effort.
