Sherrone Moore was arraigned in a local court in Michigan on Friday, where he was officially charged with third-degree felony home invasion, misdemeanor stalking (domestic relationship), and misdemeanor breaking and entering.

The former Michigan head football coach was arrested on Wednesday, hours after he was fired by the school. Through an investigation, Michigan found credible evidence that Moore had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member and fired him for cause.

The prosecutor for the case on Friday said Moore went to the staff member’s home after being fired on Wednesday and threatened to kill himself. The scene unfolded just days after the staff member broke off a multi-year relationship with Moore, the prosecutor said.

“Our victim broke up with the defendant on Monday morning. She presented herself to (the school) and corroborated the fact they had a relationship,” the prosecutor said.

A report from the Wall Street Journal on Friday stated that Moore, who is married, had been involved in a relationship with the staff member from 2022 to 2024, when she ended things. Sometime after Moore became the Michigan head coach in 2024, the staff member received a substantial raise.

Though an initial investigation into Moore turned up no evidence of an improper relationship, the staff member went to the school earlier this week to confirm the details of the relationship.

According to the WSJ, Moore was also the subject of multiple complaints by at least 2 different women who told the school he had made unwanted advances toward them online.

Moore’s next hearing is set for Jan. 22, 2026.
