Social media reacts to Lainey Wilson musical performances on College GameDay

Lainey Wilson is a Grammy Award-winning country artist hailing from Baskin, Lousiana. She was a strong choice to be College GameDay‘s Week 1 Celebrity Guest Picker, but she’s doing more than that to kick off college football season.
Wilson, ahead of her pick segment, is performing for the GameDay crowd in Baton Rouge. She started with her own rendition of “Comin’ To Your City” — College GameDay‘s intro song — and her hit song “Can’t Sit Still.”

While utilizing Wilson’s talents elsewhere on the show is a logical move, fan reception of the decision has not been positive. Social media users bashed both Wilson’s performance and ESPN’s decision to have her perform, citing a desire for the program’s traditional open.
If there is a “positive” takeaway, it’s that fans still liked Wilson’s appearance more than anything involving Pat McAfee.
Hopefully Wilson’s game picks garner better reaction than her pregame activities. College GameDay rolls into kickoff between Oregon State and No. 23 Houston at 12:00 p.m. E.T. on ESPN. At the same time, East Carolina and Alabama will get underway on ABC, while North Texas and the reigning champion Indiana Hoosiers get going on FOX.
