Sony Michel is on the move again, and the former Georgia star is set to land with a new NFL team.
This will be his fourth NFL team, as Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Los Angeles Chargers intend to sign Michel, who this preseason was with the Miami Dolphins. His career began with the New England Patriots, but last season won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams.
Last season for the Rams, Michel rushed for 845 yards and 4 touchdowns in 17 games played with seven starts. In the Super Bowl victory, he rushed 2 times for 2 yards.
Michel originally was a first-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2018, Michel recorded at least 981 yards from scrimmage in each of his first two NFL seasons. For his overall NFL career, Michel has rushed 743 times for 3,137 yards and 18 touchdowns in 55 regular-season games played.
One of the recent great running backs out of Georgia, which has a proud history at that position, Michel finished his career third on UGA’s all-time rushing list with 3,638 yards, as he passed both Garrison Hearst and Todd Gurley with an 85-yard effort against Georgia Tech. He also finished his career 16th among all-time rushers in SEC history.
