Sooners announce on-field sponsor for Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium
Oklahoma now has an on-field sponsor for Owen Field.
On Friday, the program announced a partnership with Riverwind Casino for an official on-field ad inside Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. For the time being, the ad is small and tonal. Thunder fans fearing another Love’s patch situation can rest assured.
The casino’s name, “Riverwind,” will be painted in white between the 20 and 30 yard lines rather than the full casino logo.
Riverwind Casino, owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation, is one of the largest casinos in the state. It is located in Norman.
The move sees Oklahoma join others across college football who have adopted official on-field sponsors for football as a way to drive more revenue into the athletic department. In 2024, the NCAA officially approved the use of on-field ads, but most major schools have been slow to adopt them. Texas (Humann), Alabama (US Navy), and Auburn (YellaWood) have also signed agreements with companies for on-field ads.
Oklahoma returns to Owen Field on Saturday night when it hosts No. 15 Michigan for a high-profile, early-season nonconference clash. The Wolverines are coming to town off a 34-17 win over New Mexico. The 18th-ranked Sooners won their season-opener over Illinois State, 35-3.
Saturday’s game against Michigan kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. OU is down to a 4.5-point favorite at BetMGM.
