South Carolina baseball just added a commitment from one of the top remaining players in the transfer portal. On Saturday, Texas Tech transfer Connor Shouse announcing his commitment to coach Kevin Schnall and the Gamecocks following his official visit at the end of June.

Shouse is a two-way player who saw action primarily in the infield but also played outfield and pitcher for the Red Raiders. 64Analytics listed Shouse as the top player in the transfer portal, and D1Baseball placed Shouse inside the top 10.

2027 will be Shouse’s third year in college baseball. He started his career at Georgia Tech, where he saw 25 games of action before transferring to Texas Tech for 2026. Shouse broke out upon arrival in Lubbock, totaling 76 hits, 66 RBIs and 10 home runs while batting .353 and slugging .595 — enough to field All-Big 12 First Team honors.

Shouse is the 24th player to commit to South Carolina out of the transfer portal so far this offseason, and he surely will not be the last. The Gamecocks are fully retooling following the hire of Schnall, who came to Columbia a few weeks ago after a strong stint at Coastal Carolina.
