South Carolina got a big-time lift to its offensive line depth for the 2027 season on Sunday afternoon with a commitment from mammoth interior lineman Jaxon Elston.

The 6-foot-5, 314-pounder out of the state of Alabama told On3’s Hayes Fawcett of his decision to head to Columbia next fall. Not only did Shane Beamer‘s program pluck Elston out of a rival SEC state, the Gamecocks lured the offensive line stud out of the clutches of a rival SEC program, beating out Arkansas as well as Georgia Tech for Elston.

Elston currently stars at Oxford High School in Oxford, Ala., and his commitment on Mother’s Day was a nice surprise for South Carolina, with Elston previously scheduled to announce his collegiate decision on June 20. But the 3-star product decided to make his intentions known more than a month before that.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Elston is currently rated as the 1,218th-best prospect in the Class of 2027. He’s also the 83rd-best interior offensive lineman in the class and the 44th-best player from the state of Alabama.

Elston joins another 3-star offensive line talent, Will Endicott, in South Carolina’s 2027 recruiting class, with 4-star offensive tackle John Archer also headed for Columbia next year.

The Gamecocks now have 7 commitments in their 2027 class, which right now ranks 35th in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

South Carolina is trying to get back to relevance in the SEC this fall, with the ultimate goal of course being an SEC championship. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the top teams in the mix to be holding that conference title trophy in December:
