South Carolina made a big addition in the class of 2027 on Christmas Day.
The Gamecocks picked up a commitment from 4-star safety Jernard Albright. He chose South Carolina over offers from programs such as Mizzou, Florida State, Nebraska and plenty more.

Alright is a big pickup for South Carolina. He’s the No. 176 overall player and the No. 19 safety for the class of 2027, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 23 player from the state of Georgia.
Albright is from Springfield, Georgia. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 207 pounds. Albright took an unofficial visit to Columbia this past football season prior to making this decision.
With the 2026 Early Signing Period in the rearview mirror, Shane Beamer and his staff can now turn their focus to the transfer portal and 2027 high school recruiting. Albright is South Carolina’s first commitment in the class of 2027.
