While it’s rare that singular on-field results directly impact recruiting decisions, it’s hard not to draw some correlations between what occurred in Columbia, South Carolina, and Auburn, Alabama, on Saturday when it comes to a recent flip.
As On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported, 4-star defensive lineman Nate Kamba announced Sunday that he would be changing his commitment from Auburn to South Carolina, with the Charlotte, North Carolina, native stating “…I’m finally home.”
The 6-foot-4, 312-pound tackle had been committed to Alex Golesh‘s Tigers since June, but following Saturday’s events, Kamba apparently changed his mind.
As alluded to, Kamba may have been swayed by Saturday’s on-field action as part of his decision. After all, Auburn fell in disappointing fashion at home to LSU, spoiling the program’s gained momentum from its upset win over Georgia the week prior.
Meanwhile, Shane Beamer‘s Gamecocks upended Tennessee at Williams-Brice Stadium, giving them a second straight ranked win following a rough start to the season. Kamba’s verbal pledge may be another sign that things are back on the upswing in Columbia.
The defensive lineman visited South Carolina back in early June prior to venturing to Auburn, and he also holds offers from the likes of Georgia, Florida, Ohio State, Texas and USC.
