South Carolina lands 2028 4-star ATH out of North Carolina

Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks added a commitment from 4-star ATH Joseph “Jet” Gibbs on Wednesday morning, the first commitment of the Gamecocks’ 2028 cycle.
Gibbs hails from Southeast Alamance high school in Haw River, North Carolina, located between Greensboro and Raleigh. He stars as a 2-way player for SAHS, earning snaps at wide receiver and cornerback. In addition to football, Gibbs also runs track and was a state qualifier in the 100-meter dash as a HS sophomore.
Standing at 6-foot-1, 187 pounds with room to grow, Gibbs found himself on the radar for several big-name teams. He currently holds offers from Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina and NC State with his junior year set to start in just a few months — in other words, even despite his commitment, his recruitment is far from over.

South Carolina first offered Gibbs just under a month ago on June 2.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Gibbs is considered to be the No. 297 overall prospect in the Class of 2028, as well as the No. 45 wide receiver and the No. 10 player out of the Tar Heel State.
