For Gibson, this will mark his 3rd consecutive missed season. He was also injured for the entirety of the 2024 and 2025 campaigns. He last played in 2023 for Oklahoma when the Sooners were still in the Big 12, racking up 375 yards and 5 touchdowns as a sophomore.
Sellers is the younger brother of quarterback LaNorris Sellers. The receiver had a standout true freshman season, catching 22 passes for 337 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Gamecocks do have a few other options at wide receiver, though Gibson and Sellers were expected to be key reserves. Nyck Harbor returns as a potential No. 1 option while Nitro Tuggle and Mazeo Bennett Jr. are expected to start for South Carolina this fall. Tuggle transferred to South Carolina from Purdue this offseason.
South Carolina will open the season against Kent State on Sept. 5.
