South Carolina football added its second commitment in as many days on Thursday, landing a pledge from Class of 2027 wide receiver DJ Huggins. The Gamecocks beat out the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Kansas for Huggins’ services.
Huggins hails from Harrison high school in Kennesaw, Georgia and stands at 5-foot-11, 165 pounds. While he picked the Gamecocks over the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide, he held offers from other programs such as Florida State, Clemson, Arkansas and Virginia Tech, to name a few.
Huggins is considered to be the No. 473 overall prospect in the Class of 2027 according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s also considered to be the No. 57 wide receiver and No. 53 prospect out of the Peach state.
South Carolina has 5 pledges in the Class of 2027 thus far, and 3 of those commitments have come just in the past few days. The Gamecocks earned a commitment from 4-star offensive lineman John Archer on Friday and received a pledge from Prosper, Texas offensive lineman Will Endicott on April 27. As it currently stands, the Gamecocks hold the nation’s No. 56 overall recruiting class.
