South Carolina pulls off wacky jump pass 2-point conversion

South Carolina is getting terribly cute to start their 2026 season. Crucially, though, the cuteness worked.
Following a touchdown by Gamecocks receiver Mazeo Bennett, head coach Shane Beamer decided to go for 2 with a unique formation. The Gamecocks set the offensive line to the left of a single snapper, who pitched the ball backwards to tight end Maurice Brown II. From there, Brown executed a jump pass to senior tight end Brady Hunt for the successful 2-point attempt.

As you would expect, the Gamecocks are rolling in Week 1 against the Golden Flashes. South Carolina leads 29-0 heading into the halftime break, thanks to a pair of rushing touchdowns and a pair of passing touchdowns from the arm of LaNorris Sellers.
Sellers has had a sold day thus far, though the competition is hardly enough to warrant a legitimate evaluation. The junior quarterback is 16-for-19 in the first half with 201 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns to Bennett and sophomore receiver Donovan Murph.
The Gamecocks are doing well in the run game, too. Matt Fuller has 8 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown, and freshman running back Jabaree Coleman took the first touch of his college career 60 yards to the house.
