The South Carolina Gamecocks are reportedly about to lose a standout offensive weapon, as freshman wide receiver Brian Rowe Jr. is expected to enter the transfer portal when it opens Jan. 2, 2026.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Rowe played in 11 games this season – recording 19 receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown in 2025 and 3 rushing carries for 8 yards in South Carolina’s 4-8 season.
Rowe’s best game came Nov. 1 against then-No. 7 Ole Miss, when he hauled in 4 catches for 45 yards in a 30-14 loss in Oxford. He also had 3 catches for 50 yards in a 29-20 loss against Missouri.
The Concord, NC, native had 120 receptions for 2,332 yards and 31 touchdowns in three seasons at Jay M. Robinson High School. Rowe was suspended for the Oklahoma game in October alongside defensive lineman Davonte Miles and edge rusher Anthony Addison for what coach Shane Beamer called “a violation of team standards”.
Rowe is the 6th player to reveal their intentions to enter the transfer portal – joining tight end Michael Smith, offensive lineman Nick Sharpe, defensive lineman Zavion Hardy, linebacker Jaron Willis, and offensive lineman Trovon Baugh.
CBS Sports was first to report Rowe’s impending transfer.
