South Carolina desperately needs to play well on Saturday night against Kentucky following back-to-back losses that have sent the Gamecocks spiraling to a 2-2 record.

That 2-0 start is old news now after setbacks against Vanderbilt and Mizzou, and now here comes Kentucky to Columbia for a primetime SEC showdown that will kick off at 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network. South Carolina needs to avoid an 0-3 start in conference play and, sure, it would help if the Gamecocks were dressed nicely while doing that.

On Saturday afternoon, a few hours before kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium, the South Carolina football social media account posted a video that revealed the uniform combination the Gamecocks would be featuring on national TV. The post came with the headline “Crisp & Clean,” so you know that South Carolina was destined to look good while it attempted to play well.

The uniform and helmet combination of choice for Week 5 was centered around the color black, as the video shows:

Naturally, the result of the game is what really matters on Saturday night for Shane Beamer‘s suddenly struggling team, but looking the part is important, too. For the Gamecocks, the color black will look intimidating, and it’ll just be a matter of playing with an intimidation factor against 2-1 Kentucky.
