South Carolina entered Saturday playing some good football, winning two consecutive games against top-25 foes Florida and Tennessee. The Gamecocks traveled to Norman Saturday to take on the Oklahoma Sooners, and they were looking to continue their strong play as of late.
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers got things rolling early on Saturday, scoring on a 15-yard run to give the Gamecocks the early lead.
Sellers has been playing his best football as of late, and a big reason why is that he is making a ton of plays with his legs. The rushing touchdown on Saturday was his fourth in his last three games, as he rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns against the Volunteers
It was only a couple of weeks ago that there was a lot of turmoil around the Gamecocks program. South Carolina had just two consecutive games where it blew a 16- and a 17-point lead, and star defensive end Dylan Stewart was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. Things have changed quickly for the Gamecocks recently, and the play of their star quarterback has played a big role in that.
At times, Sellers has looked like a guy who would hear his name drafted early in the 2027 NFL Draft, and his play over the last couple weeks has been at that level.
