South Carolina has had a roller-coaster of a year in 2026, but Saturday was one of those exciting moments, as Malik Orsan knocked in a field goal as time expired to get the 27-24 upset over Tennessee.

Here’s a clip of the game-winning kick:

As has been the case for much of the season, the Gamecocks got the game off to a fast start. They took an early 14-0 lead after LaNorris Sellers took off for a 31-yard touchdown run. However, in what has also happened a lot this season, the Gamecocks gave that big lead up.

In losses to Mississippi State and Kentucky, the Gamecocks blew 16 and 17-point leads to lose those games. The Volunteers responded with 21 points in the second quarter to take the lead. However, after Shane Beamer called the defense soft at the half, the Gamecocks responded by allowing only three points in the second half.

Sellers is starting to resemble the quarterback fans had hoped for before the season, finishing with 210 passing yards and one touchdown, while also adding another 96 on the ground.

Just two weeks ago, Shane Beamer was on the hot-seat, but the Gamecocks have responded with two big wins at Florida and now against Tennessee.
