Spencer Rattler has been at South Carolina long enough to have some time to reflect on his transfer from Oklahoma.

One of the biggest moves involving the transfer portal this offseason, Rattler gave the Gamecocks an automatic upgrade at quarterback and immediate outlook.

“I feel totally just refreshed. To be at a new university, a great university like this, I feel a sense of, I’m very comfortable here,” Rattler said. “Knowing Coach (Shane) Beamer, and getting to know all these guys my first month up here. I made a great decision. I’m happy I’m in this position, and like you said, pressure. I feel like the pressure’s taken off a little bit this year. But my main focus is just starting up with my team here in about a week and a half after spring break, and get going on spring ball.”

Rattler, who threw for 28 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman for Oklahoma in 2020 before he lost his starting job with the Sooners last season, was once a Heisman Trophy favorite.

Without the preseason national hype, it will be interesting to see how Rattler starts the season.
