Steve Spurrier was grateful that most of South Carolina’s 81,000 strong hung around until the waning moments of the Gamecocks’ 10-point win over East Carolina on Saturday.
In his post-game press conference, Spurrier acknowledged that fans know his football team has a long way adjusting to life without Connor Shaw, Jadeveon Clowney and Bruce Ellington.
“Fans were super. They hung in there. They’re starting to realize what kind of a team we are,” Spurrer said during his post-game press conference.
South Carolina was a preseason Top 10 before being humbled by 24 points at home in last week’s season opener. Saturday’s victory over the Pirates was Spurrier’s 200th career win as a SEC head coach.
