One of the top prospects in the state of Georgia is staying home to play college football in the SEC.
Kirby Smart’s UGA program landed a Mother’s Day commitment from blue-chip defensive back Jordan Smith, one of the top in-state prospects in the 2026 recruiting class.
Out of Warner Robins (Georgia) Houston County High School, Smith is listed as measuring over 6-1 and 185 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Smith is rated 4-stars, the No. 8 safety, No. 10 player in the state and No. 95 prospect overall in the Class of 2026.
The Peach State is a known hotbed of talent, and Smith was highly sought-after, picking up 36 scholarship offers. On April 20, Smith named a final 10 which included Georgia, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Memphis, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State and Mizzou.
For Sunday’s commitment announcement, Smith told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he chose Georgia over Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Alabama.
With Smith on board, Georgia now has 9 players verbally committed in its 2026 recruiting class, which ranks No. 10 nationally on the Composite.
