Stephen A. Smith reveals favorite NFL landing spot for Ty Simpson
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has a favorite fit for ex-Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson in the NFL Draft.
Smith believes the Pittsburg Steelers should select Simpson with their first-round pick. The Steelers may be looking for a starting quarterback this offseason depending on if Aaron Rodgers decides to officially retire.
Smith says Simpson would be a good fit to succeed Rodgers in the Steel City.
“I want to see the Steelers draft Ty Simpson,” he said alongside analyst Dan Orlovsky on ESPN. “That’s what I want to see. You have gotten me on Ty Simpson. I interviewed the kid too, watched him play this year. They lost some games at the tail end of the season … But I know the brother can play.
“I think the Steelers so desperately need somebody we can look at and say ‘this is the future of the franchise.’ Anybody from the quarterback spot that has the potential to have that said about them, if they land at No. 21 with the Steelers, I want the Steelers to take them. Rather than waiting for Aaron Rodgers, approaching age 43, to let the world know that he’s going to play this season.”
On prediction markets like Kalshi, Pittsburgh is not among the top favorites to pick Simpson in the draft. The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams have been the teams most-often linked to Simpson’s services.
Here’s what the current Kalshi marketplace looks like for Simpson’s draft destination:
Simpson and the rest of the NFL Draft world will have to wait for Thursday night before seeing where the chips fall.
