Steve Sarkisian declines to answer Colin Simmons injury questions

After finishing up their 3-game non-conference slate this past weekend against UTSA, the No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns are getting ready to dive into their SEC schedule this Saturday with a road game against the No. 14-ranked Tennessee Volunteers on Rocky Top.
This will be the first time in program history the Longhorns will make the trip to Knoxville, and it remains to be seen whether reigning SEC sack champion Colin Simmons will be available for the conference opener after he left last Saturday’s game against the Roadrunners with what appeared to be an ankle injury.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was asked about Simmons’ injury status during his Monday afternoon presser by Longhorns beat writer CJ Vogel, and Sark let everyone know, in very blunt fashion, that he wasn’t going to answer any injury questions about his star pass rusher.
Anyone who has followed Sark long enough knows this kind of snark isn’t exactly out of character for the Longhorns’ head man. He’s never been one to shy away from hiding how he truly feels about things, especially when it comes to interacting with reporters.
That said, him not wanting to give an update on the linchpin of his defensive front’s ability to play this Saturday makes sense. Why give your opponent an indication one way or another earlier than you have to?
If Simmons ultimately can’t suit up against Tennessee this Saturday, though, that would be a massive blow for Texas as they head into one of the most hostile road environments in college football.
