Steve Sarkisian doesn’t feel pressure ahead of top 5 matchup vs. Ohio State, coach says

The No. 4 Texas Longhorns are getting ready for what very well could end up being their most important test of the entire 2026 season against the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes this Saturday.
This heavyweight clash will be a rematch from the Week 1 battle between these 2 juggernauts last season, a game in which the Buckeyes edged out the Horns 14-7 at home to secure a massive early-season resume booster.
Now Texas will be looking to avenge that loss on their home turf this weekend, and head coach Steve Sarkisian told Longhorns beat writer Kirk Bohls on Thursday that he isn’t feeling any pressure heading into what could be the biggest game of the entire CFB season.
“This is what you love,” Sarkisian said. “I don’t necessarily feel any pressure. GameDay wouldn’t be here if we weren’t any good. The game wouldn’t be a sellout if we weren’t any good.”
Now in his 6th season at the helm in Austin, Sarkisian has rebuilt the Longhorns into the national powerhouse they were under former head coach Mack Brown in the mid-2000s. He’s got all the talent in the world on his roster, and that talent has been assembled for one purpose: to bring a national title back to the Lone Star State.
If he can manage to guide Texas to a victory this Saturday, then he could be well on his way to doing just that this season, regardless of the pressures involved in pursuing such an endeavor.
