Steve Sarkisian says Cam Coleman reminds him of elite former receiver

Cam Coleman is a special talent.
The new Texas Longhorns receiver is more talented than most college football wide receivers, and he’s primed for his best year yet with Arch Manning throwing him the ball.
On Monday, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian was asked by a reporter if Coleman reminds him of any former receivers that he used to coach. According to OnTexasFootball’s CJ Vogel, Sarkisian mentioned the one and only Julio Jones.
Sarkisian coached Jones in 2017 and 2018 while working as the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator. Across those 2 seasons, Jones put up over 3,000 yards receiving with 11 total touchdowns — and 2018 was probably the second-best season of Jones’ career.
Both have similar builds and next-level catch radiuses. So far in college, Coleman has hauled in 93 receptions for 1,308 yards and 13 touchdowns across 2 seasons at Auburn. If you know anything about Auburn football under Hugh Freeze, you understand how impressive it is that Coleman was able to accomplish this in 2 seasons. The 2024 and 2025 Tigers weren’t exactly known for their ability to push the ball downfield.
The sky is the limit for Cam Coleman in 2026. Texas kicks off its new campaign on September 5 against Texas State.
