Strength of schedule rankings by ESPN FPI stacked with all 16 SEC teams near the top

Strength of schedule and the SEC annually go together, because the conference annually presents all of its teams with a challenge that just isn’t seen in any other league.

Things are no different in 2026, and the preseason strength of schedule rankings were revealed this week right along with ESPN’s preseason FPI rankings. While SEC teams fill the very top of those FPI rankings, starting with Texas at No. 2, the ESPN FPI strength of schedule rankings put the SEC front and center to a ridiculous degree.

That’s because a staggering 9 of the top 10 and 14 of the top 15 toughest schedules in the country reside in the SEC, with Arkansas leading the way with the toughest strength of schedule in college football entering the 2026 season.

Every last team in the stacked SEC is represented in the top 20 of the strength of schedule rankings, so there is no SEC team that is getting off slightly easier than the rest. There is a gauntlet of some high degree awaiting all 16 SEC teams as they prepare for the start of fall camp and, soon enough, the start of this season.
