Taylen Green names QB he ‘always wanted to be like’ growing up

Taylen Green is entering his second season at Arkansas after spending three seasons at Boise State. The Razorbacks quarterback threw for 3,154 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2024 while running for 602 yards and 8 more scores.
Arkansas, though, went just 7-6 as they were never able to establish a consistent run of success. With a tough 2025 schedule, it might be an uphill battle once more for the Hogs.
Being from Greenville, Texas, Green was well aware of the success of another Lone Star State quarterback, Kyler Murray. Green was in middle school while Murray was a high school star about an hour away at Allen High School. And while Green was in high school, Murray was at Oklahoma.
“Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be like him,” Green said at SEC Media Days on Thursday. “Just the legendary things that he’s done, even now. Didn’t lose a game in high school … that speaks a lot.”
If Green is looking to take the next step in his development and increase his stock for the 2026 NFL Draft, he could certainly have worse role models than Kyler Murray. Green and the Razorbacks open the 2025 season against Alabama A&M.
