Tennessee football is keeping more talent in-state. On Monday, the Vols landed a commitment from 3-star defensive back Brandon Leavell, who hails from Madisonville, Tennessee — located between Knoxville and Chattanooga.

Leavell committed to Tennessee over the likes of Florida and Clemson and did so just hours after Vols target Jarrell Chandler committed to Clemson.

Leavell hails from Goodpasture Christian School and, as you can see above, stands at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. He’s a multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball and runs track while also playing both sides at WR and DB on the gridiron. Leavell totaled 35 receptions for 735 yards and 12 touchdowns with 4 interceptions last season and could perhaps suit up at safety for the Vols.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Leavell is considered to be the No. 604 overall prospect in the Class of 2027, as well as the No. 44 ATH and No. 28 player from the Volunteer State.

Tennessee now has 8 players committed in the Class of 2027 following Levaell’s pledge on Monday evening. Three of those prospects — including Leavell — are considered defensive backs at the next level. Joining Leavell in the secondary among the Vols’ recruiting class are 3-star safety Jaden Butler and 3-star cornerback Carter Jamison.
