College football season is still over a month away, but the Tennessee Volunteers picked up a huge victory Wednesday โ€“ landing the commitment of 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges for the 2027 class.

Gabriel Georges, the 12th-best player in the nation and top player in Tennessee according to 247Sports Composite, chose to stay in-state and play for the Volunteers over offers from finalists Ole Miss and Ohio State.

The 6-foot Gabriel Georges starred for Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn., last season โ€“ rushing for 1,749 yards and 27 touchdowns as a junior in 2025. The Red Raiders went 12-0 and captured the Division II-AAA state championship, a run that included Gabriel Georges popping for 435 yards and seven touchdowns against McCallie in the semifinals.

Originally from Quebec, Canada, Gabriel Georges earned Division II-AA Mr. Football honors in Tennessee as a sophomore in 2024 and again in 2025. He headlines an 18-player Volunteers 2027 class that also boasts six 4-star commitments. Gabriel Georges is the only running back committed to Tennessee so far in the 2027 cycle.
