Tennessee has made a change at quarterback midway through the 2nd quarter against Auburn.

The Vols have benched true freshman Faizon Brandon, instead turning to backup George MacIntyre to lead the offense against the Tigers. MacIntyre lost a quarterback battle to Brandon during fall camp, but the freshman has struggled in the early going against P4 competition.

Brandon got the first 7 drives of the day on Saturday in Knoxville. Tennessee‘s offense scored 3 points from those 7 drives, with the other 6 opportunities resulting in 4 punts, a lost fumble and an interception.

Brandon completed 3-of-8 passes for 0 yards and 1 interception before being benched. Though he completed multiple passes, Tennessee’s offense also lost yardage on multiple wide receiver screen passes that went behind the line of scrimmage in the first half.

MacIntyre is from Brentwood, Tennessee. He was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2025.
