Tennessee will be without an important depth piece against Vanderbilt on Saturday. According to the final availability report released before the game kicks off, Vols defensive lineman Jordan Ross will miss Saturday’s game. Miles Kitselman will also miss Saturday’s game after suffering an injury against New Mexico State. As expected, Rickey Gibson and Jermod McCoy were also listed out on the report.
Here’s a look at the final availability report for both teams:
Ross has had a solid sophomore season for Tennessee, and he was crucial in the Vols’ win over Arkansas earlier this season. So far, Ross has totaled 17 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 2 pass deflections at the line of scrimmage. His presence will especially be missed on Saturday against a mobile quarterback in Diego Pavia.
Speaking of Pavia, stopping him will be an absolute necessity for Tennessee Saturday afternoon. The Vanderbilt quarterback has been among the best in the SEC this season and, as mentioned, can stretch defenses with both his legs and his arm. Both John Mateer and Taylen Green, 2 of the better mobile quarterbacks in the SEC, saw success on the ground against the Vols.
Saturday’s game is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
