Tennessee may have lost to one of its rivals over the weekend, but Josh Heupel & Co. managed to secure a win over another bitter foe during the Early Signing Period.

Per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett’s report, defensive lineman JJ Finch flipped his commitment from Alabama to join the Volunteers’ program on Wednesday.

Rated a 4-star prospect by 247Sports, Finch had been committed to Kalen DeBoer since late June but visited Knoxville in early November.

The Indianapolis product held offers from a laundry list of Power 4 programs and stands at 6-foot-3, 260 lbs.

Finch becomes the 28th member of Tennessee‘s 2026 class to sign Wednesday. He also becomes the 10th defensive lineman in the group.

The Volunteers’ current class ranks 7th in the nation according to 247Sports, with the 5-star trio of quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tristen Keys and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda leading the way. At its current pace, this would be the strongest recruiting class of the Heupel era.
