Tennessee LB coach William Inge hospitalized with ‘medical issue,’ per team

Tennessee announced on Thursday that linebackers coach William Inge has been hospitalized as he faces an undisclosed “personal medical issue.”
“Coach Inge and his family appreciate your prayers and support, and we ask that you respect their privacy at this time,” the program said in a statement on social media.
Inge, 52, joined the Volunteers staff ahead of the 2024 season after two years on Kalen DeBoer‘s staff at Washington as associate head coach, co-defensive coordinator, and linebackers coach. He coached LBs and served as sole DC under DeBoer at Fresno State in 2020 and 2021. Before that, he was at Indiana from 2013-2019, serving as special teams coordinator in 2019 while DeBoer was the Hoosiers’ offensive coordinator. Inge has also coached at Iowa, Northern Iowa, Colorado, San Diego State, Cincinnati, and Buffalo, as well as in the NFL for a season with the Buffalo Bills.
Inge has coached several standout linebackers during his time at Tennessee. Arion Carter was an All-SEC second-team selection after recording 76 tackles, 6.0 tackles for a loss, and 1.5 sacks in 2025. Jeremiah Telander has been a mainstay in the Vols’ starting lineup since 2024. At Washington, Inge coached Edefuan Ulofoshio, a first-team All-Pac-12 pick in his final season in 2023.
