Tennessee LB coach William Inge releases statement on being released from hospital
With Alabama set to visit Knoxville this weekend, the Tennessee football program received some good news to help it get hyped up for the rivalry matchup.
On Wednesday, Tennessee linebackers coach William Inge released a statement explaining that he had been released from the hospital as of Tuesday after being hospitalized since mid-September with an undisclosed medical issue.
In the weeks following, news of Inge’s status was sparse, and when it did come, it included phrases such as “a real fight on his hands” and “small wins.”
But following the Volunteers’ victory over Arkansas last weekend, it became apparent that Inge had turned a corner in his battle, and his announcement confirmed as such Wednesday:
I want to thank all the staff at UT Medical Center for their amazing care and support. I was released from the hospital on Tuesday. I have begun the rehab process and I am getting stronger by the day.
My family and I are incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out, Vol Nation and especially our staff and team. Your love and support during this time has been inspiring. There’s nothing like the Third Saturday in October, and I’ll be our guys’ biggest fan this weekend! GBO!
Inge joined Josh Heupel‘s staff in 2024 and is amidst his third season after previously coaching linebacker under Kalen DeBoer at Washington.
And as Inge emphasized, he’ll be one of many watching when his Volunteers–and specifically his veteran linebackers–take on Keelon Russell and Alabama.
