Tennessee deputy athletic director Ryan Alpert has been named the next athletic director at Georgia Tech.

Albert’s arrival at Georgia Tech was confirmed by the university on Tuesday afternoon. Alpert also served as Tennessee’s chief revenue officer and has played a big role within the athletic department since his arrival in August of 2021.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Alpert has agreed to a 5-year deal with the Yellow Jackets. Thamel first reported the news of Alpert’s departure.

According to Georgia Tech’s press release, Alpert helped Tennessee athletics increase its annual revenue by more than $100 million since 2022. The release also says the Vols generated a record-breaking $228 million in revenue during the 2024 fiscal year under Alpert’s leadership.

“I’m incredibly grateful to President Cabrera and the search committee for the opportunity to serve as the next athletic director at Georgia Tech,” Alpert said in a statement. “As college athletics continues in a period of rapid transformation, I’m excited about all the Institute has to offer and what we can accomplish together. Georgia Tech’s visionary leadership, combined with its world-class academics and commitment to competitive excellence, provides a strong foundation for the future. My family and I can’t wait to get to Atlanta and join the Yellow Jackets!”

Tennessee athletic director Danny White previously called him a “rising star” in the industry. Alpert also previously worked at Mizzou and Florida Atlantic.
