Tennessee loses key offensive player to season-ending injury

Tennessee tight end Ethan Davis suffered a torn ACL on Saturday against Georgia Tech and will miss the remainder of the 2026 season, according to a report.
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel announced that news on Monday at his weekly press conference.
This is a huge blow for Tennessee’s offense as Davis was set to be a big weapon for the Vols this season, particularly in the red zone. He scored 2 touchdowns for Tennessee, including one against Georgia Tech, before going down with the injury.
In 2025, Davis caught 21 passes for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was mostly a reserve that season, but did make 4 starts for the Vols and was set to have an even bigger role for the offense this fall.
With Davis out for the year, the Vols will now turn to DaSaahn Brame, Trent Thomas or Cole Harrison at the tight end position. Brame may prove to be the best option in the passing game — he’s also listed at 6-foot-5 and was a 4-star recruit in the class of 2025.
Tennessee will host Kennesaw State in Week 3.
