Tennessee QB Faizon Brandon exits game vs. Texas in second quarter with apparent shoulder injury

Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon was forced to leave in the second quarter of the Volunteers’ Week 4 game against Texas, after the true freshman suffered what appeared to be a right shoulder injury.
With just over a minute gone by in the quarter, Brandon was taken to the ground by a pair of Texas defenders. He landed on his right shoulder before being tended to by trainers and taken to the medical tent in obvious pain. He was then replaced by George McIntyre.

Brandon and the Volunteers have been off to a slow start against the Longhorns. Before he left, Brandon was just 3-of-4 for nine yards. Tennessee, as a whole, had recorded just over 20 yards of total offense when Brandon departed, as it struggled to gather any semblance of momentum in front of their home fans.
Brandon, who beat out McIntyre for the starting job in the offseason, had thrown for 552 yards and six touchdowns with zero interceptions coming into Week 4. He had also run the ball 26 times for 137 yards and three TDs.
We’ll see what the prognosis is for the former five-star recruit and whether or not he’ll miss significant time.
