Tennessee was supposed to have an upcoming home-and-home series against Nebraska, but the Cornhuskers backed out and decided to pay the Volunteers a hefty buyout fee instead.

That left a hole in the Tennessee football schedule for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, but now those open dates have officially been filled with another power conference opponent.

Per a release on Wednesday, the Volunteers will visit Georgia Tech for a game in Atlanta in 2026 and host the Yellow Jackets at Neyland Stadium in 2027:

Tennessee AD Danny White took another shot at Nebraska while praising Georgia Tech for being flexible enough to make this series against the Volunteers work:

After Nebraska canceled the series, our main focus was to secure another home-and-home matchup with an opponent from a Power Four conference, which seemed improbable at the time,” Tennessee Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White said. “I sincerely appreciate Athletic Director J Batt’s creativity in modifying Georgia Tech’s schedule to make this series possible. We look forward to seeing plenty of orange in Atlanta in 2026!

Tennessee visits Georgia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026. The return game at Neyland Stadium is set for Saturday, Sept. 11, 2027.

Tennessee leads the all-time series against the Yellow Jackets 25-17-2.
