Tennessee starting right tackleย Brett Kendrick had surgery on Thursday morning to repair three torn ligaments in his left ankle, reports the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Recovery time is expected to last three to fourth months, which puts him in serious doubt for the Orange & White spring game.

Kendrick (6-foot-6, 320 pounds), who tore two ligaments in the spring game last year but opted to not have surgery, tore a third ligament in the Volunteers’ย loss to Alabama on Oct. 15.

He did not miss a game.

โ€œThat was the ligament that holds the tendon in place and that was another reason he ended up having the surgery,โ€ Kendrickโ€™s mother said Thursday. โ€œThey were afraid that tendon would rupture if the ligaments werenโ€™t repaired.โ€

Kendrick will be a fifth-year senior for the Vols in 2017.
