Tennessee is seeing immediate results from hiring new strength and conditioning coach Derek Owings earlier this offseason.

Owings moved to Knoxville one day after helping Indiana win the National Championship at the end of last season. On Wednesday morning, Tennessee released the results from Owings’ first 14-week training program as the head strength coach for the Vols.

Per Tennessee, Tennessee’s players collectively gained over 867 pounds of muscle and lost about 218 pounds of fat. Additionally, Tennessee says 33 players added 11 pounds or more of muscle mass over the 14-week program.

Tennessee improving its strength and conditioning program could have a major impact on its on-field performance next season. Josh Heupel made the decision to not renew the contract of former strength coach Kurt Schmidt after the 2025 season.
