Faizon Brandon just got through being harassed by Texas for a full 60 minutes last weekend, and the Tennessee quarterback received some bad news Wednesday when it comes to the future outlook of his protection up front.

Former Arizona transfer Wendell Moe had emerged into a reliable force along the Volunteers’ offensive line over the course of the past two seasons, but Josh Heupel and his staff will now have to adjust to life without the senior.

As On3’s Pete Nakos reported, Moe is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a lower-body injury, and with this being his fifth year of college football, it remains to be seen if the guard will be able to suit up for UT again.

Appearing on preseason watch lists for both the Outland and Lombardi Trophies, Moe first blossomed into a bona fide starter after initially redshirting with the Wildcats in 2022. He then earned All-Pac-12 honors in 2023 and started 24 total games for Arizona before landing in Knoxville prior to the 2025 campaign.

That season saw Moe earn All-SEC First Team honors after starting in 11 games, and he’s only given up a mind-boggling 2 sacks throughout his entire collegiate career.

Thus, Moe is a major loss for the Vols’ front five, and it will be a challenge for Heupel & Co. to protect Brandon the rest of the way if Saturday was any indication. The veteran guard exited that game after the fourth play of the contest.
