Tennessee leads 24-14 heading into halftime against the Syracuse Orange. For the most part, it’s been a solid afternoon for the boys from Knoxville. However, injuries are starting to pile up on defense.

CB Rickey Gibson, DT Jaxson Moi and DT Nathan Robinson have all suffered injuries to start the season – though the severity for all 3 is uncertain. Moi was injured early in the first quarter with what is described as an upper-body injury (via Knox News), Gibson was injured early in the 2nd and Robinson left late in the 2nd just before Syracuse drove to score their 2nd TD of the day. And keep in mind, star cornerback Jermod McCoy did not suit up for today’s game after tearing his ACL at the start of the year.

Syracuse has moved the ball well on the Vols in the 2nd quarter, perhaps in part because of these injuries. Colton Hood has been a major positive for Tennessee in the secondary, but DB Boo Carter appears to still be limited due to some disciplinary action.

All injuries are unfortunate, but perhaps the toughest to swallow so far has been Nathan Robinson, who was playing excellent in place of Moi, who exited earlier as mentioned above. Robinson notched a sack and a forced fumble across his quarter of action.

Tennessee leads Syracuse 31-14 at the half. Syracuse will start the 3rd quarter with the football.
