Tennessee hit the road in Week 2 to take on a Georgia Tech team looking to bounce back from a Week 1 loss to Colorado.
With the game tied at 10, the Yellow Jackets were giving the Volunteers all they wanted. However, Tennessee responded and took a 17-10 lead after Dejuan Lane intercepted Alberto Mendoza and took it back 41 yards.

Lane played the first two years of his career at Penn State, but transferred during this past off-season.
The game is the first road game for true freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon, who last week became the first true freshman to start at Tennessee since 2004. In the first half, he wasn’t extremely accurate, but he threw two touchdowns, and unlike his counterpart, he hasn’t turned the ball over.
The Volunteers have had some issues on the defensive side of the ball the past couple of years, but through the first six quarters of 2026, the defense has been better. That will be especially vital as the schedule gets tougher with SEC play. The Volunteers are only two weeks away from hosting the Texas Longhorns in Knoxville.
