Tennessee TE Ethan Davis reveals 2027 plans after suffering season-ending injury

The Tennessee Volunteers offense took a significant blow in Week 2 during their blowout win against Georgia Tech when veteran tight end Ethan Davis suffered a season-ending ACL injury.
After a productive 2025 campaign, Davis was expected to take a big step as a senior in Josh Heupel’s offense and was named to the John Mackey Award preseason watchlist.
While his 2026 season may not have ended the way he or anybody else on Rocky Top would have hoped, it won’t be his last, as he revealed on his personal X account Monday morning that he plans to return to Tennessee in 2027 for 1 final year with the Vols.

A Georgia native, Davis was a 4-star recruit in the 2023 cycle and a key piece of Tennessee’s class that year. He redshirted his first season on campus and carved out a bigger role for himself over each of the past 3 years.
2025 was a breakout campaign for him as he hauled in a career-high 21 passes for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns in just 9 games, leading all Volunteer tight ends with 12.2 yards per reception.
Davis’ 2026 campaign may have ended prematurely, but the hope is that he can make a full recovery and cap off his college career with a bang in 2027.
