Tennessee WR Chris Brazzell hauls in absurd catch vs. Mississippi State
Tennessee wide receiver Chris Brazzell has had a knack for finding the endzone this season, with 6 touchdown grabs among his 25 catches going into Week 5.
The junior from Texas added to that touchdown haul on Saturday afternoon against Mississippi State, catching a 15-yard scoring pass from Joey Aguilar midway through the second quarter that tied the game at 17-17. The score was the same at halftime, too, but as the teams jogged into the locker room in Starkville, it wasn’t Brazzell’s touchdown catch that Tennessee fans were talking about.
Instead, it was the ridiculous 32-yard grab from Aguilar that Brazzell made late in the first half that had fans going crazy. Brazzell had to twist his body in another direction to catch the pass that was thrown behind him. Naturally, Brazzell was able to do just that, and his catch set the Vols up at their own 44-yard line.
Unfortunately for Tennessee, the catch didn’t help produce any points, as Max Gilbert missed a 47-yard field goal attempt with 1:11 left in the half, keeping the score tied.
But even though the insane catch didn’t produce points, it did produce plenty of reaction, as Brazzell continued his highlight-reel of a season. Brazzell had 4 catches for 83 yards and that touchdown at halftime.
