The college football world was saddened to learn of Bobby Bowden’s passing on Sunday morning.

The legendary Florida State coach, who led the Seminoles to 2 national championships, died at the age of 91 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

His son, Terry, stepped away from Louisiana-Monroe, where he’s the head coach, to be with his dad. Terry Bowden said in a statement that he learned a lot from his father, including how to coach the right way (via TheNewsStar.com):

“I couldn’t have asked for a better personal mentor than my father,” Terry said in a statement. “He was a wonderful husband and father, who relied on his strong Christian faith to provide the foundation for his life. I also was fortunate to be raised by a football coach who had a reputation for coaching the right way his entire career. He was admired by everyone who played for him or coached against him.

“As a family, we will embrace all of those wonderful memories and celebrate a life well lived.”

It’s clear Bobby had a major impact on the lives of everyone he coached or worked with.

Bobby Bowden won 377 games during his iconic coaching career. Terry only has 202 wins to go to match his dad!
