Texas adds commitment from former Oklahoma pledge, 4-star 2028 RB
The Oklahoma Sooners thought they added Micah Rhodes to their 2028 class in late January 2026. Unfortunately for them, he decommitted in April. Now, the news has gone from bad to worse.
Early Thursday morning, Rhodes took to Twitter/X and announced he was committing to the Texas Longhorns.
Rhodes is the No. 166 players in 247Sports Composite rankings. The same list has him graded as the 12th-best running back recruit in the nation and the No. 20 recruit in the Lone Star State. The Spring, TX native had also received offers from Florida, Indiana, LSU and Vanderbilt, among others, since departing the Sooners.
Texas now has two commits for its 2028 class: Rhodes and quarterback Niemann Lawrence. Together, they have the Longhorns sitting at No. 12 overall in 247Sports 2028 recruiting class rankings. Lawrence, out of Plantation, FL, is the No. 79 overall player, No. 7 QB and No. 7 player in his state, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings.
Rhodes, a 2024 MaxPreps Freshman All-American, posted 934 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first high school campaign. His grandfather, Bobby, is a former Texas linebacker. His uncle, Shane Williams-Rhodes, played for Boise State (2012-15) and is second in program history in receptions (233).
