Texas A&M defensive back reportedly arrested in connection with a car crash
Texas A&M defensive back Dalton Brooks was arrested on Friday in College Station, according to a report from the Austin American-Statesman.
Brooks was booked in Brazos County jail for a misdemeanor charge after a late-June collision involving damage to a vehicle greater than $200. His bond was set at $2,000 and, according to the Statesman, Brooks was released the same day.
In a statement provided to the Statesman by a Texas A&M spokesperson, the school said it was aware of the incident and the matter would be “handled internally.”
Brooks is entering his third season with the Aggies. He was a top-100 recruit in the Class of 2023 out of Shiner (Texas) High. As a true freshman, Brooks made 12 appearances while recording 18 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass breakup, and an interception.
Last season, he played in all 13 games while putting up 59 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 3 pass breakups, and 1 interception. A 6-foot, 195-pound safety, Brooks is expected to be a major part of the rotation in the secondary for Texas A&M coach Mike Elko this fall.
The Aggies officially opened training camp on Wednesday. They host UTSA on Aug. 30 to begin the 2025 season.
