The Aggies basketball program picked up a commitment from an in-state point guard Amaree Abram, who’s been rated as the No. 25 point guard in the country by 247Sports.

Abram had a reported 13 offers, including Texas Tech, Wichita State, Texas State, Sam Houston and Louisiana Tech. Abram is from Humble, Texas (Summer Creek).

A&M assistant Steve Roccaforte was a key part of the recruitment.

โ€œIt means a lot, Texas A&M is one of the top schools on my list and it’s an honor,โ€ Abram told GigEm247. โ€œHe’s been recruiting since he was at ECU and he’s from where I’m from growing up in Texas. So, we have a little relationship.โ€

The combination of being closer to home, and playing in the SEC were big factors in his decision.

โ€œI like how they’re in the SEC,โ€ Abram said. โ€œThey’re in a tough conference and it’s not too far from home, it’s in College Station that’s what I like most about it.โ€

Here are his highlights from Hudl:
