Texas A&M lands basketball commitment from in-state point guard

The Aggies basketball program picked up a commitment from an in-state point guard Amaree Abram, who’s been rated as the No. 25 point guard in the country by 247Sports.

Abram had a reported 13 offers, including Texas Tech, Wichita State, Texas State, Sam Houston and Louisiana Tech. Abram is from Humble, Texas (Summer Creek).

A&M assistant Steve Roccaforte was a key part of the recruitment.

“It means a lot, Texas A&M is one of the top schools on my list and it’s an honor,” Abram told GigEm247. “He’s been recruiting since he was at ECU and he’s from where I’m from growing up in Texas. So, we have a little relationship.”

The combination of being closer to home, and playing in the SEC were big factors in his decision.

“I like how they’re in the SEC,” Abram said. “They’re in a tough conference and it’s not too far from home, it’s in College Station that’s what I like most about it.”
