Ahead of the 2025 season and 2026 signing period, Texas A&M has recruited ahead and landed its quarterback for the 2027 class.
Jayce Johnson is the newest Aggie pledge. Mike Elko beat out numerous SEC teams and Florida State to land Johnson’s verbal commitment.
Out of Valdosta (Georgia) Lowndes High School, Johnson is listed as currently measuring 6-3 and 210. On the 247Sports Composite, Johnson is rated 4-stars, the No. 3 quarterback, No. 8 player in the state of Georgia and No. 61 prospect overall in the Class of 2027.
Though it’s early in the 2027 cycle, Johnson has already picked up scholarship offers from 31 programs. Earlier this week, Johnson had named a final 5 of Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida State, Mississippi State and South Carolina.
Johnson is Texas A&M’s first commitment for the 2027 recruiting class. It never hurts to start with a quarterback, as it helps recruit the rest of the offense pitching prospects on the opportunity to play with a talented QB.
